"The actress was offered a chance to perform at the opening ceremony of the IPL," a source told TOI, "But unfortunately, Sameera won't be able to make it!" So, why did the actress not grab the opportunity when it came her way? "It so happens that we're shooting extensively that day for her upcoming Tamil film, being directed by Prabhu Deva," informs the source in the film's unit.
"The crew is in Chennai but we're shooting on the outskirts. Sam tried her best to work it out and Prabhu too tried to help her out with the timings but unfortunately, it just couldn't be accounted for."
The source also discloses that Sameera called the organizers and explained her predicament. "Sam told them that she was losing a golden chance to perform in front of her home team," adds the source, "They were dumbfounded and asked her, 'Isn't Mumbai your home team?' to which she replied, 'Chennai is my home team.'"
